This post is in response to a comment made under the post, "Why Protestants Agree With Mormons Part Three."
To quote our Lord and Savior, "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23&24)
The work of God is spiritual, the goals of God are spiritual, the life of God is spiritual, God reveals all things spiritually for God is Spirit. "The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words." (1 Corinthians 2:10-13)
"those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God." (Romans 8:14)
Jesus Himself states that the substance of the flesh is nothing. "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. Yet there are some of you who do not believe." (John 6:63&64) When we get hung up on the fleshy substance of things we do not have the Spirit within ourselves. "The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned." (1 Corinthians 2:14)
Although Christ had to come to earth in the flesh, it's the flesh that is of no concern to God. Life comes by the way of the Spirit and all things that are created are for His pleasure through the Spirit. With this in mind; "My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright." (Proverbs 2:1-7)
"The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children." (Romans 8:16)
It is my prayer that God will reveal the truth in the substance of His Spirit to all those earnestly seeking Spiritual substance.
