Now that SBS (shaken baby syndrome) has been shown in the medical field as "rare or nonexistent," due to the fact that the symptoms might be a real cause for an undiscovered or untreated condition. Most doctors, however, still believe in SBS, yet they might be overlooking the real problem due to the lack of continued education or some other factor.
The label "SBS" has now been picked up by the LDS people and have changed the wording to "Shaken Faith Syndrome." This term will never be a real diagnosis by the medical field, so the Mormon church has stepped in to start their own "spiritual medical diagnosis." The doctors of the Mormon church have gone as far as a written book about this new found phenomenon.
The symptoms of this so-called syndrome are marked in the mental realm of competing paradigms. With the spectrum of cognitive dissonance being vast, one can throw in "SFS" into the rainbow of color. This being the author and apologetic for the Mormon church, Mark Ash, who wrote such a book for the sick. Titled, "Shaken Faith Syndrome".
Here are a few symptoms of this illness as I see it:
Rejection of Mormon doctrine
Denial of Mormon doctrine
Too dogmatic or fundamentalist about Mormon doctrine
Accepting different views other than Mormon doctrine
Accommodate current non-LDS views
The whole idea that a Mormon turned non-Mormon is sick in the head because of their inability to have cognitive thinking on what the truth is about the Mormon church is stupid. No one who has ever left the Mormon fold or has no desire to be trapped in its clutches is mentally unstable, or unable to direct their thinking to reality. On the contrary, in view of the whole spectrum, the 'doctors' who are scrambling around like a brud of chickens with their heads cut off not knowing when or where to stop, because they refuse to educate themselves with the truth, are over looking the real problem with the Mormon religion.
Prognoses for SFS is poor for the apologetics who are thinking that this whole syndrome is fatal to all those who question the false doctrines of a false religion from a false prophet. The lack of continued education in their own mental paradigm should be a red fag for all who don't want to split their thinking in two!
