Click on the title of this post and link up with a BIG list of Mormon owned businesses and property. The Mormon church is buying about everything they can get their hands on. The interest of this so-called Christian group wants control of as much assets as it possibly can.
Eighth Article of Faith-The Bible vs. the BOM
Parallel passages from the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible sometimes disagree not only with the King James Version of the Bible, but also with each other. Critics ask why Joseph's earlier work (i.e., the Book of Mormon) generally followed the King James Version of the Bible closely while his later work (i.e., the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible) did not. Critics ask which translation did Joseph get right, implying that one is wrong, hence bringing his prophetic calling into question. Critics generally cite any of a number of passages from Matthew 5-7 from the King James Version and Joseph Smith Translation and 3 Nephi 12-14 from the Book of Mormon. A much celebrated example is:
Matt. 6:25-27 (King James Version)
- 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
- 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
- 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
3_Ne. 13:25-27) (Book of Mormon)
- 25 And now it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words he looked upon the twelve whom he had chosen, and said unto them: Remember the words which I have spoken. For behold, ye are they whom I have chosen to minister unto this people. Therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
- 26 Behold the fowls of the air, for they sow not, neither do they reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
- 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
Matthew 6:25-27 (Joseph Smith Translation)
- 25 And, again, I say unto you, go ye into the world, and care not for the world; for the world will hate you, and will persecute you, and will turn you out of their synagogues.
- 26 Nevertheless, ye shall go forth from house to house, teaching the people; and I will go before you.
- 27 And your heavenly Father will provide for you, whatsoever things ye need for food, what ye shall eat; and for raiment, what ye shall wear or put on.
The whole eighth article of faith is a joke. The BOM wasn't 'translated correctly' either. There are over 3,000 corrections to its pages. Now who would want to do a thing like that to the 'most correct book ever written?'
The First Vision
The Works of Grace
I stumbled upon a topic in the "Church Newspaper" (Mormon) website. The article was published on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000. It's short, but is packed with irrational and false statements concerning grace.
"Applying the Scriptures: Grace given through Christ's mercy, love
Latter-day Saints are known as a people with a strong work ethic - both temporally and spiritually. However, as believers in Jesus Christ as their Redeemer, they also know that without His grace, their efforts are in vain.
During the April 1993 general conference, Elder Gene R. Cook of the Seventy explained: "Grace is a 'divine means of help or strength given through the bounteous mercy and love of Jesus Christ.' It is 'an enabling power.' (Bible Dictionary, p. 697.) The doctrine of the grace of the Father and the Son and how it affects us is so significant that it is mentioned more than 200 times in the standard works. If we can obtain the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, that divine enabling power, to assist us, we will triumph in this life and be exalted in the life to come."
Elder Cook then shared five principles that "may help us obtain that divine intervention....The first principle is faith. It is evident that this grace, or enabling power, is accessed by faith. No wonder faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the first principle of the gospel.
"Repentance is the second principle. The grace of the Lord through the Atonement can both cleanse us of sin and assist us in perfecting ourselves through our trials, sicknesses, and even 'character defects.'
"The third principle is humility," Elder Cook said. He then referred to Ether 12:27: "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me."
He continued: "Doing all in your own power is the fourth principle. Yes, works alone cannot bring that divine gift, but they are a key condition upon which the gift is received.
"The fifth principle, keeping the commandments, surely is a condition for receiving the grace of the Lord. To obtain grace, one does not have to be perfect he does have to be trying to keep the commandments the best that he can. Then the Lord may allow him to receive that power."
Here is a quote from the book, "Mormon Doctrine" by Bruce R. McConkie that is just as irrational. This is under the heading, "Grace of God" on page 338-339; "Grace is granted to men proportionately as they conform to the standards of personal righteousness that are part of the gospel plan. Thus the saints are commanded to "grow in grace" (D&C 50:4o), until they are sanctified and justified [Looks like ya gotta 'work' at justification too!], "through the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (D&C 20:30-32.) Grace is an attribute of perfection possessed by Deity (D&C 66:12; 84:102), and Christ himself "received grace for grace" until finally he gained
the fullness of the Father. [So....Jesus wasn't perfect on earth? He needed the grace of the Father, even though He was sinless and incapable of sinning, and He is God?!] The same path to perfection is offered to man. "If you keep my commandments," the Lord says, "you shall receive of his fullness, and be glorified in me as I am in the Father; therefore, I say unto you, you shall receive grace for grace.: (D&C 93:6-20)---(Brackets added with my thoughts)
My Harper's Bible Dictionary states this about grace: "grace, a favorable disposition on the part of God, usually without reference to any merit or desert in the object of the favor, and, especially in the N.T. even when the object is entirely lacking in merit or desert. The grace of God is therefore that quality of God's nature which is the source of mans undeserved blessings, in particular those blessings which have to do with their salvation from sin...To be in "a state of grace" is to know that one's relation to God is determined not by merit- "by works of the law" -but by faith in Christ as the revealer of God's merciful love. This is the burden of Paul's testimony in Rom. 5 and 6. The gospel is "good news," because it is the assurance of the grace of God (see Acts 20:24; cf. Luke 4: 16-19). Men, says Paul, are "justified freely, "or brought to forgiveness and reconciliation, "through God's grace" (Rom. 3:24). It is a fundamental Christian teaching that salvation is a free gift, whose source is the undeserved favor, or grace, of God."
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
What happened to FREE??...Mormons do not believe in FREE....That is, after they say, "Go ahead, feel free to join our cult, then see where your freedom goes...Out the window! Christ IS freedom. Grace IS given for FREE!!
Faith, repentance, humility, doing all in your own power, and keeping the commandments are not GRACE!!
Joseph's Indian Mound
Pike County Illinois has a little history for the Mesoamerican BOM people. The title is linked to the web site that makes a short statement about how Joseph Smith believed that a battle in the Book of Mormon occurred in Illinois. It's short and sweet.
Shaken Faith Up
Now that SBS (shaken baby syndrome) has been shown in the medical field as "rare or nonexistent," due to the fact that the symptoms might be a real cause for an undiscovered or untreated condition. Most doctors, however, still believe in SBS, yet they might be overlooking the real problem due to the lack of continued education or some other factor.
The label "SBS" has now been picked up by the LDS people and have changed the wording to "Shaken Faith Syndrome." This term will never be a real diagnosis by the medical field, so the Mormon church has stepped in to start their own "spiritual medical diagnosis." The doctors of the Mormon church have gone as far as a written book about this new found phenomenon.
The symptoms of this so-called syndrome are marked in the mental realm of competing paradigms. With the spectrum of cognitive dissonance being vast, one can throw in "SFS" into the rainbow of color. This being the author and apologetic for the Mormon church, Mark Ash, who wrote such a book for the sick. Titled, "Shaken Faith Syndrome".
Here are a few symptoms of this illness as I see it:
Rejection of Mormon doctrine
Denial of Mormon doctrine
Too dogmatic or fundamentalist about Mormon doctrine
Accepting different views other than Mormon doctrine
Accommodate current non-LDS views
The whole idea that a Mormon turned non-Mormon is sick in the head because of their inability to have cognitive thinking on what the truth is about the Mormon church is stupid. No one who has ever left the Mormon fold or has no desire to be trapped in its clutches is mentally unstable, or unable to direct their thinking to reality. On the contrary, in view of the whole spectrum, the 'doctors' who are scrambling around like a brud of chickens with their heads cut off not knowing when or where to stop, because they refuse to educate themselves with the truth, are over looking the real problem with the Mormon religion.
Prognoses for SFS is poor for the apologetics who are thinking that this whole syndrome is fatal to all those who question the false doctrines of a false religion from a false prophet. The lack of continued education in their own mental paradigm should be a red fag for all who don't want to split their thinking in two!

Go to this web site and read what people are saying about Glenn Beck and the Mormon Church.
I think this article has some interesting things to say about the deceitfulness of the Mormon church.

Glenn Beck-What Happened to Article 12?
Article of Faith #12
"We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law." (Articles of Faith)
Does this mean that the article above is supporting the devil?
