"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! Art thou cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations! (2 Nephi 24: 12)
"And was called Perdition, for the heavens wept over him-he was Lucifer, a son of the morning" (Doctrine and Covenants 76:26)
First of all, Lucifer is a Latin name not a Hebrew name. The name 'Lucifer' is a name that is associated with light, stars, morning, bright and the like. The name is a miss translated metaphor that stayed with the early Christians and the name 'Lucifer' has stayed with the Christians since.
The two Mormon scriptures above are in error when they use this name. Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Mormon, not translated it, and supposedly the manuscript was penned in 600 b.c. using Isaiah's own words. The name 'Lucifer' was not used in 600 b.c. Thus, JS used the 'King James Version' of the Bible to complete his fictional writing.
Are Jesus and the devil brothers? NO and NO! Jesus is GOD and the one that fell from heaven was an angel whom GOD created!
Brothers?

I love this verse, "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! Art thou cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations! (2 Nephi 24: 12)
The reason I love this verse is because this contrdicts what the LDS teach about how Satan and Jesus gave their plans for salvation to God the father, and God rejected Satan's so he Kicked him out of Heaven. Rick b
Sorry to hear that you left the Church......also sorry to see that you are from Missagain.
A Buckeye fan ;-)
The use of the KJV Bible in the Book of Mormon, was the thing that made me easily realize that the book could not be more accurate then the Bible, since he copied the mistakes within the KJV as well. Such as the Lord prayer, where "For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, for ever and ever amen." Is not found in earlier manuscripts and so considered not in the original. So how can it be in the Book of Mormon? God works in mysterious ways and the small but insignificant mistakes in the KJV are the very things that show the book of Mormon a true fake only.
