The Temple Has Served Its Purpose
"When Christ died on the Cross, the veil of the temple was torn in half, from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51), announcing to the world that the middle partition was broken down between God and man and that mankind now had immediate access to God. No longer did man need the services of a priest to offer sacrifices for his sins. Instead, Christ has once and for all become the supreme Sacrifice and the Great High Priest. Hence the Temple had served its purpose and was no longer needed." (The Historical Background of the Construction of the Temple and Its Place in Hebrew Life and Thought, by C.D. Hansen, The Enduring Word Emphasis, Resource Magazine and Bible Commentary, December-January-February 1983-84)
